A Day in Elk Island

In October 2021, I got a chance to visit Elk Island National Park for the day with my family. Elk Island is the perfect place to get some nice shots of the landscape and animals that inhabit the area. I visited and such a great time of year as the trees were covered in bright orange leaves making for vibrant photos. I am sharing a few of my favourite images taken that I feel capture the essence of that day.

The weather was quite nice for the season despite being a bit chilly from the wind. The boardwalk was my favourite place in the park as you can get good views of the water as well as all of the nature and animals that surround it.

There were many people walking their dogs enjoying the nice weather. They were a lack of birds and beavers in the water that day so having dogs to photograph was such a joy.

There were plenty of other people enjoying the park as well. Many people were out kayaking on the lake, something I have yet to try but I hope to someday.

There were a few buffalo seen but they were at quite the distance having midday naps. They are fascinating creatures and it is always exciting to spot on in it’s natural habitat.

Overall it was a wonderful experience and I hope to come back to photograph more in the Spring.
